Boyle, Iginla and Jagr Are Trade Deadline Targets

Jarome Iginla

Jarome Iginla - Calgary FlamesCould the Calgary flames really trade away their long time captain? Of course they can. Iginla has been with the flames since 1996-97 and has scored 20+ goals in each season except one. Despite that success, the Flames captain has yet to win a Stanley Cup.

With Calgary currently sitting in 14th position in the West, sources are saying the wheels are already in motion to have Iginla waive his no trade clause to head to a true contender.

Having the no trade clause certainly leaves Iginla in the drivers seat when it comes to his trade. The 35-year-old veteran goal scorer has been linked to Pittsburgh, Boston, and Vancouver. Pittsburgh would have to be leading the pack at this point, with high end talent such as Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. The Bruins or Canucks could sneak in through, as they have tremendous talent on their teams as well.

Other potential destinations include the Detroit Red Wings and Los Angeles Kings. The Red Wings are in desperate need of scoring help, but with their current line-up, do not give Iginla the best shot at winning a Stanley Cup. The Kings on the other hand still have a great team, and could be one piece away from making another deep run into the playoffs.
