After returning to Boston following their 5-3 win over New York Islanders last night, the Boston Bruins held an event at Seaport World Trade Center today where season ticket holders got to see team president Cam Neely show off the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic uniform to Zdeno Chara, Tuukka Rask and David Krejci.

The uniform they are wearing is black with gold stripes on the sleeves and bottom trim. The crest features the words Boston and Bruins sandwiched around the bear mascot, similar to the original crest from 1924. According to a release from the NHL, the numbers are developed to mimic the numbers worn in the Bruins’ early days and are a retro off-white color.

It’s a contrast 2010 when they hosted the Philadelphia Flyers at Fenway Park. That year, they wore brown and gold as a tribute to their original colors along with a “B” crest from 1948-49. This year’s edition against Montreal at Gillette Stadium will make Boston the first two-time hosts of the New Year’s Day contest.

“It’s a treat any time you get to work on a new jersey. We’ve been fortunate to do two for the Winter Classic now. The fact that we’re an Original Six team … and being that we’re playing another Original Six team, our biggest rival in the League, we thought we’d go back to when the Bruins first came into the League, 1924, so the crest itself is a takeoff of the original Bruins jersey. The striping is another thing from one of our original jerseys. And the neckline is more like a sweater from when the jersey was like an actual sweater.” – Cam Neely

The game is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m. ET and will be televised by NBC, TVAS, and SN.
