Bolts Prospect Dazzles with KHL All-Star Game Goal

The NHL wasn’t the only league to have an All-Star game last weekend. The KHL had it’s mid-season classic in Sochi, and a goal during the breakaway challenge is one you don’t see very often. Ever since Mike Legg scored in the 1996 NCAA tournament hockey players have tried the lacrosse-style goal whether in a practice or in a game.

I don’t remember if I’ve been scored upon this way in a game but I do know it’s happened in practices and during drop-in sessions and I’m just as amazed the shooter pulled it off as the shooter.

In the KHL breakaway challenge, Tampa Bay prospect Nikita Gusev scored one of the most jaw-dropping goals you’ll see below on CSKA goaltender Stanislav Galimov.

He currently plays for Yugra, and is having his best professional season in the KHL in his short three-year career with 18 goals and 28 points in 45 games. His goal total alone is higher than his previous career-best point total of 14. The left-winger was drafted by Tampa Bay in 2012 in the seventh round, 202nd overall.

His spin-o-rama lacrosse-type goal has generated over 3.5 million views on Youtube in just three days.
