Jason Spezza Tallies Slick Shootout Goal
- Updated: October 24, 2014
Add Jason Spezza to the list of players who have now started using Patrick Kane’s shootout style. Spezza used it successfully tonight as the Dallas Stars defeated the New Jersey Devils, and it was brilliant.
In case you’re not familiar with Kane’s style, you skate in on the goalie quite fast, and then around the circles hit the brakes and get those hands moving. We’ve seen Kane do it the most, similar to what he did back on October 9th, and even saw a John Tavares variation last week.
Spezza seemed to head in on Devils goalie Cory Schneider in a borderline sprint, and pulled up at the center of the circles. His several dekes made it near impossible for Schneider to make the save. After his final move, Spezza had almost a full open net to throw a backhand into. Incredible talent.
Jason Spezza and the Dallas Stars won the shootout, and have now earned points in five straight games.
