STX, who last year announced they would be producing a line of sticks and protective gear for 2014, has announced new partnerships with USA Hockey, Matt Moulson and the National Hockey League.

Matt Moulson has been seen using an STX prototype stick in the NHL, but with the signing of the on-ice equipment license, it looks as though we may see some additional items in the not so distant future. One item mentioned specifically in the press release are STX gloves. We can look forward to Moulson wearing the new STX gloves once the product is complete.

The USA Hockey partnership will make STX not only an official sponsor, but the official equipment supplier as well. As the equipment supplier, STX will be providing members of the U.S. National Team with gear to be used. This will include the U.S. National Team Development program based in Ann Arbor, MI. It will also include the U.S. Olympic teams.

BALTIMORE, Jan. 14, 2013 — /PRNewswire-iReach/ — Baltimore-based STX, LLC, a global sporting goods leader, today announced major steps towards its 2014 ice hockey product launch including signing NHL Player Matt Moulson, securing an on-ice NHL equipment license and reaching a multi-year agreement with USA Hockey.

The four-year partnership with USA Hockey makes STX both an official sponsor and equipment supplier of USA Hockey.  Additionally, the deal names STX as the official sponsor of the Toyota-USA Hockey Youth, Girls and High School National Championships.  As part of the agreement, STX will equip members of the national teams with product, including the National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, MI and the US Olympic Teams.

To top off that announcement, STX signed Matt Moulson, one of the most prolific NHL goal scorers of the past four years, to a multi-year endorsement deal. As the face of STX Hockey, the Buffalo Sabres left-winger will use STX sticks in games and transition to wear STX gloves once the product is finalized. Moulson will also provide feedback on the equipment to help STX design and develop equipment that meets and exceeds player expectations.

“As a lacrosse player who grew up with STX, I was excited when I found out they were getting into ice hockey,” said Moulson. “It’s easy to see how much time STX has spent researching exactly what players are asking for and developing equipment to meet those needs. I’m really looking forward to our partnership.

Prior to being traded to the Sabres in October, Moulson topped the 30-goal mark in each of his first three seasons with the NY Islanders and he ended last season in the top 25 for points for the second straight year.

“For more than two years, we have taken a very methodical and deliberate approach by leveraging our existing knowledge of protective gear and stick composites to create products of which we are really proud. Moulson has proved to be one of the most productive goal scorers in recent years, and who better to help consult us with our products in this next stage of development,” said Jason Goger, President of STX. “These partnerships poise STX for a long future with the NHL and USA Hockey,”

STX will begin sales of ice hockey equipment in the Spring of 2014.
