Tatar Honors Late Father With Goal
- Updated: January 12, 2014
It was an emotional night in Los Angeles yesterday for the Red Wings, specifically Tomas Tatar. The young winger was playing with a heavy heart after learning the day before that his father had passed away. Rather than taking personal time off right away, Tatar honored his late father by lacing up his skates and playing in the game.
Tatar didn’t just skate last night, however, he played an excellent game too and helped lead the Wings to a 3-1 victory. First, Tatar assisted on Riley Sheahan’s first career NHL goal. But it was later on in the third period when a loose puck found its way to Tatar and he buried his shot that he was really able to honor his father as he pointed to the rafters moments later.
Check out the video below of Tatar’s game winning goal and celebration to follow.
