Stamkos Suffers Leg Injury Against Bruins

Steve Stamkos, who currently leads in the NHL in points and goals, was taken off the ice on a stretcher today after suffering an apparent leg injury in today’s game against the Bruins.

Stamkos was on a hard backcheck when a collision sent him to the ice crashing hard into his own goal. In the embedded gif below, you can see his right leg hits the goal post with a tremendous amount of force. Afterwards, Stamkos attempted to get back up, but was unable to as he was clearly in a lot of pain from the incident.

Moments later, a stretcher was brought onto the ice to take Stamkos away. He was later taken to a local Boston hospital for x-rays on his leg, as his teammates and hockey fans alike wait and hope for good news.

Stamkos had been on a tear this season, picking up 14 goals and 9 assists in only 16 games played. His goals and points are currently tied for tops in the NHL, and his Tampa Bay Lightning also own first place in the Eastern Conference with a 12-4 record heading into the game today.
