Max Domi Punched After Empty Net Goal Celebration

Max Domi, son of longtime Maple Leafs enforcer Tie Domi, has been one of the London Knights most dominant scorers this season. He has carried that scoring touch into the playoffs this season, notching 5 goals and 9 assists in only 9 games played.

After sweeping the Saginaw Spirit in the first round, Domi and the Knights battled the Kitchener Rangers in round two. Wouldn’t you know that it was Max Domi who had the opportunity to ice game five and seal the series victory for the Knights with an empty netter. Domi nailed the shot from just inside the blue line. Domi dropped to one knee and slid into the Rangers zone while throwing his hands into the air in celebration.

It was quite a celebration, but one that Max Iafrate, son of longtime NHLer Al Iafrate, took exception to. Iafrate threw a punch at Domi once he got close enough, and continued to try to throw punches as other plays joined the scrum.

Unfortunately for Iafrate and the Rangers, their playoffs dreams are done for this year. Domi and the Knights have the last laugh as they continue their run for the J. Ross Robertson Cup.
