Boyle, Iginla and Jagr Are Trade Deadline Targets

Jaromir Jagr

Jaromir Jagr - Dallas StarsThe Philadelphia Daily News has suggested that Jagr could make a return to the Flyers at the trade deadline.

The Flyers are currently on the outside looking in at the playoff picture, but adding Jagr to the line-up could provide a much needed spark.  Claude Giroux and Jagr played particularly well last season, as Philadelphia broke the 100 point barrier and landed a 5th seed in the playoffs.

“For my money, Jagr changes everything about the way Giroux plays the game. Jagr is able to win battles along the boards, hang onto the puck and find the open man. He is strong and commands respect from defenses, even at his advanced age … For a third round pick, if that’s the price, it’s worth experimenting whether Jagr can get the Flyers over the hump and into the playoffs. Especially for a team which has dangled draft picks like candy over the years.” Frank Seravelli of the Daily News said.

The Stars, on the other hand, are currently undecided when it comes to Jagr, according to Pierre LeBrun of ESPN. Much of it depends on both teams positions heading into the playoffs, however.

It should be noted though that Flyers GM Paul Holmgren is never afraid to experiment with trading. He’s dealt many players in the past few years, and it certainly wouldn’t be surprising to see him make another move at this years deadline
