John Tavares shootout goal against Ottawa Senators
- Updated: March 3, 2013
Even in 11th place in the Eastern Conference, the New York Islanders aren’t far out of the playoff picture, and forward John Tavares helped the team stay competitive in the postseason race today with a beautiful deke in the shootout to secure two points for his club.
Tavares has a ton of talent, and he put his skills on display for the game-winning goal against the Ottawa Senators today as the Islanders downed the sens 3-2. We’ve seen the one-hander before, which was initially made famous by Peter Forsberg, but Tavares makes it look simple as he fakes the shot, makes a quick deke and then slides the puck into the wide open net past Ottawa netminder Robin Lehner with one hand. Tavares currently leads the Islanders with 13 goals and 25 points. Check out the video below to see the game-winning shootout goal from Tavares.
