The 2012 NHL Stanley Cup playoffs has been a rather interesting one, seeing many top teams knocked out early. For the IIHF however, this beefs up rosters as the players knocked out tend to play for their country in a chance to win the gold. Power rankings see Canada on top, followed in order by Russia, Sweden, Finalnd, Czech Republic and then finally, USA.Team rosters can be found here.

The preliminary rounds start today as two groups, H (Helinski) and S (Stockholm) square off. Group H has both Canada and the USA while Group S has Russia and Sweden. Two games have already been completed, USA defeating France 7 – 2 and Germany taking down Italy 3 – 0. Canada starts here shortly, 9:15 AM EST, as they take on Slovakia.

    • Unfortunately in the USA I am not able to see any feeds. I presume you are speaking of the announcer or so? In watching the Italy video, the interviewer is Paul Romanuk. Not sure if that is the same guy who is calling the games though. Could be multiple people. I could also, misunderstand your question entirely. So, please let me know if I somewhat answered, and if not, I will do some more research.
