Sick Shootout Goal From the USHL
- Updated: December 7, 2010
Upon stumbling on one of my favorite sports websites Deadspin this morning, I found a solid deke that occured in a shootout from the USHL. If you are unfamiliar with the USHL, it’s one of the primer junior hockey leagues in the country. Where the CHL (and it’s umbrella leagues WHL, OHL and QMJHL) is the feeder league for the NHL and other professional leagues, the USHL is the feeder system for players aspiring to play college hockey. Most, if not all, of your big-name division I schools recruit talent from this league as well as other smaller junior leagues in Canada. Left-handed shooting Travis Walsh of the Muskegon Lumberjacks is committed to Michigan State to continue on to college hockey. If he can dangle college goalies the way he did against Cedar Rapids, he will be pretty good for the Spartans. The video has also gone viral as it even made ESPN Sportscenter’s Top Plays over the weekend. The goal was so sick, even chicken noodle soup couldn’t help.
