EA Sports NHL 17 Simulator Tabs Predators to Hoist Stanley Cup

The addition of PK Subban and others has paid off for the Nashville Predators both on the ice and inside a computer.

EA Sports NHL 17 performed a simulation of the full 2016-17 season at the beginning of the season and at the start of the playoffs. Both times, the team winning it all was Nashville.

The difference between the video game and what played out in real life was the computer had Montreal coming out of the East in the playoff simulation, with Nashville winning Game 7 at Bell Centre. For those who were wondering, the computer simulator had Columbus beating Pittsburgh in the first round.

It will be interesting to see who is awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP should Nashville prevail, as Filip Forsberg took home the award in the playoff simulation.

In other simulation news, the video game ran a simulation of the Calder Cup Playoffs in the AHL and what happened in the simulator nearly played out in real life. EA Sports correctly predicted five of the six series in the West, only incorrectly predicting that San Jose would beat Grand Rapids in the Western final (the Griffins closed out the Barracuda in five games last night). EA Sports had the Barracuda winning the championship.
