Phaneuf Gets Burned in First Game with Senators

Dion Phaneuf had good look at Henrik Zetterberg on Wednesday night, his first game with the Ottawa Senators, as the Wings forward burned him for a real pretty goal.

Zetterberg caught a pass from linemate Pavel Datsyuk and streaked in along the right wing with only Phaneuf to beat. Phaneuf looked lazy on the play, perhaps at the end of his shift, and Zetterberg made him pay.

After out hustling Phaneuf along the boards, Zettberg went back to the inside by putting the puck underneath Phaneuf’s stick and firing a quick shot past Senators goaltender Craig Anderson.

We’re certain that this isn’t what the Senators were hoping for when they traded for the big defenseman. To make things worse, Zetterberg’s goal turned out to be the game winner.
