Penguins’ Lovejoy Takes Skate to the Face
- Updated: December 29, 2015
It was a scary incident for Ben Lovejoy on Sunday night, but things could have ended up a lot worse.
Lovejoy took an inadvertent skate to the face during the Penguins 1-0 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. The play occurred late in the third period when Jets forward Mathieu Perreault’s skate came up high after losing his balance.
The skate appears to have caught Lovejoy in the right cheek, and the Penguin’s defenseman required stitches to close the wound. Fortunately, he was able to make the post game flight back to Pittsburgh, and a team official said it “looks good, all things considered.”
