Bauer Vapor 1X Shoulder Pads

If you’re in the market for a new set of shoulder pads, you might want to hold out for the upcoming Bauer Vapor 1X shoulder pads. They will feature an awesome new look, and a bunch of great new features.

Bauer has been able to reduce the weight of the Vapor 1X shoulder pads through the use of Aerolite technology. That, along with the integration of Curv composite, makes the 1X shoulder pads more protective and lighter than their predecessor.

The all new Bauer Vapor 1X shoulder pads also feature the new transfer mesh technology. This new breathable fabric helps to enhance 37.5 technology and maximize air flow through the equipment. This leads to quicker evaporation and gear that works hard to stay dry.

Bauer’s Vapor 1X shoulder pads offer a tapered fit. The shoulder pads also include a four way free flex chest and free flex bicep guard help to keep you mobile while wearing them.

The Bauer Vapor 1X shoulder pads should be available to purchase in the Spring of 2016. You will be able to pick them up from our friends at IceWarehouse.com when they are available.

Until then, check out the Bauer Vapor 1X shoulder pads below and leave us a comment with your thoughts!

  1. Looks like the changes will be negligible, probably will pick up the current APX2’s when they go on clearance instead. Not sure if I like the black design too.

Any pics of the Vapor 1X shin guards/elbow pads or the Nexus 1N protective gear?

  2. Why wouuldn’t Bauer release the OD1N gear?

I would really like to try the Shoulder Pads & Skates from them!
& I know that Toews wears the OD1N Shoulder Pads too.

    • The OD1N project is a biometric custom fit product that was used for testing and development, never as a consumer product line. What they learned from the project was put into the Vapor APX2/1X Skates, and are now making it into the various other protective and goalie product lines. So no, they won’t release a 4th product line tagged “OD1N”, but you are seeing the benefits across the rest.

    • The sheer cost and process of manufacturing put it out of the reach of “normal” consumers. Bauer used OD1N to put a lot of their conceptual ideas to the test with the very best technology and materials. Not to mention that they custom fit and designed the gear to fit the specifications of a few elite players.

They did this for a couple reasons: R&D, and marketing. I could go into a lot more detail. Anyways, the short story is that if these were to hit retail on mass scale, they would only have a generic fit and be well beyond any reasonable price range that we could see or foresee within the next 10 years.

  3. Looking forward to seeing the 1N shoulder pads.
    The 8000’s are superb.
That series has always been the most protective line that Bauer offers, wonder what they will change or improve.

  4. should have put this in my last comment but forgot:

Maybe Bauer will finally release an XL elbow pad? The Reebok 11k and 20k are really nice (with durable straps) but Ovechkin’s custom Nexus versions are SWEET.
