David Schlemko scores slick shootout goal

David Schlemko isn’t much of a household name for NHL fans, but that might change after scoring one of the most incredible shootout goals of the season in his debut for the Calgary Flames yesterday night.

The Flames beat the Boston Bruins 4-3 in the shootout thanks to Schlemko’s creative and silky smooth deke that made Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask—one of the best goaltenders in the game—look like an amateur.

Schlemko picks up the puck at center ice and weaves his way over to the right wing where he approaches Rask from a wide angle. As he approaches Rask, he turns to his backhand, fakes a move to a forehand shot—which Rask bites on—and then quickly goes back in the opposite direction to tap the puck into a wide open net with one hand. This is a gotta see to believe goal—check out video below!
