NHL Three Stars – What are they using?

FIRST STAR – ANDREW HAMMOND, G, OTTAWA SENATORS

Andrew Hammond Ottawa Senators

Andrew Hammond earned the NHL’s first star of the week by posting some incredible numbers for the Ottawa Senators on their west coast trip. He picked up his first career shutout in only his third career NHL start in a 3-0 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. The very next night, he picked up his second career shutout in a 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Hammond finished the week with a win over the San Jose Sharks. His numbers through that three game stretch were impeccable, finishing with a 0.67 goals against average, .978 save percentage and of course three wins and two shutouts.

For his gear, Andrew Hammond is completely a Vaughn guy. He wears Vaughn goal pads and also uses a Vaughn catch glove and Vaughn blocker. Additionally, Hammond uses a Vaughn stick as part of his setup.

SECOND STAR – P.K. SUBBAN, D, MONTREAL CANADIENS

P.K. Subban Montreal Canadiens

P.K. Subban earned second star of the week by picking up six points in the Canadiens three wins. He tallied one goal and added an additional five assists, sharing the lead league in points earned last week.

Subban primarily uses Easton gear. On his head is an E600 helmet from Easton. Subban’s gloves are Easton pro 4 roll gloves, while his stick is dressed up as an old Easton Stealth S19. Subban’s pants are also an Easton pro model. On his feet, however, you’ll find P.K. using the Reebok 20k skates.

THIRD STAR – EVGENI MALKIN, C, PITTSBURGH PENGUINS

Evgeni Malkin Pittsburgh Penguins

Evgeni Malkin earned third star of the week by scoring two goals and adding another four assists in only two games last week. He’s also had three consecutive three point games.

Malkin has been known to switch around his gear quite a bit, but here’s what he has been using lately. On top of his head, Malkin wears a Bauer helmet. He wears CCM 12 gloves, these are a pro model based on the Reebok 11k. He also recently started using the CCM Ultra Tacks stick. In fact, there’s a great story on the Penguins website about how he started using teammate Derrick Pouliot’s stick and has been very successful. Malkin uses Warrior pro model pants and Bauer Vapor APX2 skates. Some of his protective equipment includes Reebok 7k elbow pads, CCM U+ shoulder pads, and Reebok 20k shin guards.

  1. PK and Max both wear the E400 easton helmets and not the E600 as stated in your posts just an observation
