2015 Mastercard Memorial Cup Schedule Announced

The Canadian Hockey League in association with the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup Host Committee announced Wednesday the schedule and start times for the 97^th Memorial Cup, the Canadian junior national championship between the winners of the Western Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and the host team. This year’s tournament will take place May 22-31 in Quebec City.

The only team slated to play so far are the Quebec Ramparts, as they are the host. They currently second in the QMJHL East Division and have the fourth best record in the league as of today. The rest of the field won’t be determined until the completion of the league playoffs in May.

The opening game of the tournament will have the Ramparts play the Western Hockey League champion on May 22. The OHL and WHL champions will have two of their three games on consecutive days, while the QMJHL will have a day rest between games. The Ramparts will have two days off between games following their game against the OHL before finishing the round-robin segment May 27.

The team with the best record after the six round-robin games will advance to the Memorial Cup Final on May 31. The next two teams will play in a semifinal two days prior.

Since the current format has been adopted, the WHL has won the title 16 times, compared to nine by the OHL and seven by the QMJHL.

All nine games of the championship will be broadcast live on Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada.

Round-Robin Game 1 – WHL vs. Quebec on Friday May 22 at 7:30 pm

Round-Robin Game 2 – QMJHL vs. OHL on Saturday May 23 at 4:30 pm

Round-Robin Game 3 – Quebec vs. OHL on Sunday May 24 at 4:30 pm

Round-Robin Game 4 – QMJHL vs. WHL on Monday May 25 at 7:30 pm

Round-Robin Game 5 – OHL vs. WHL on Tuesday May 26 at 7:30 pm

Round-Robin Game 6 – Quebec vs. QMJHL on Wednesday May 27 at 7:30 pm

Tie-Breaker (if necessary) – Thursday May 28 at 7:30 pm

Semi-Final – Friday May 29 at 7:30 pm

Championship Final – Sunday May 31 time to be confirmed
