Hockey player says “meow” seven times during interview

Kalamazoo Wings forward Ray Kaunisto borrowed some inspiration from the comedy “Super Troopers” when he managed to say “meow” seven times during an on-ice segment in just under 40 seconds.

That’s roughly one meow every 5.7 seconds.

Impressive.

“I thought about doing it a little bit before and then I just figured just let it rip and see what happens,” Kaunisto said of the interview. “I almost chickened out. I almost didn’t do it, but I kind of just went with it.”

Based in Kalamzoo, Mich., the Wings play in the ECHL where they are currently 11th in the Eastern Conference with nine wins in 25 games. Kaunisto, a center, has played in 18 games and has two goals and four assists.

“I’m always one of the guys that tries to keep things light in the locker room and in a lot of interviews with hockey players they pretty much say the same exact things over and over,” Kaunisto said. “I kind of wanted to mix it up a little bit.”
