Dalton Prout drops Milan Lucic with one punch

There aren’t many outside of the Boston area who are fond of Bruins forward Milan Lucic. While he is typically a Fantasy Hockey dream player, racking up both points and penalty minutes, Lucic has a far-reaching reputation as a cheap shot artist—so it’s not uncommon for hockey fans around the league to root against him and hope he ‘gets what he deserves.’

Haters are in Heaven today.

Despite the Bruins out-shooting the Blue Jackets badly in last night’s contest 41-28, the game hit the end of overtime tied 3-3. Toward the end of the overtime period, however, Lucic and Blue Jackets defenseman Dalton Prout found themselves coming together off to the side of the net. You can see Dalton push Lucic in the back, and when the play moves away Lucic returns the favor and blasts Prout in the back of the head. Prout obviously did not take kindly to the gesture, and after a few choice words the two players drop their gloves.

The next thing to drop was Lucic after Prout landed a huge right hand to the jaw of Lucic.

Despite going down with one punch, Lucic got back up and immediately started yelling at Prout and even threw a couple gloved jabs at Prout as the refs tried to separate the two players. Lucic and Prout continued to jaw at each other on the way to their respective penalty boxes.

Boston went on to win the game by a score of 4-3 in the shootout. The two teams play again on Saturday, Dec. 27 when the Bruins visit the Blue Jackets in Columbus.
