Top Prospect McDavid Shatters Puck

We’ve talked about Erie Otters forward Connor McDavid before. He’s the top prospect in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and he’s been the top prospect for close to two years now. He currently leads the Ontario Hockey League in points with 38 in 13 games. That’s averaging 3 points every night he straps on a helmet and laces up his skates. He’s that good. In 2012-13 (when I watched him play against Plymouth) he scored 66 points and had a -24 rating on an awful Erie team that year. Fast forward to this season and the Ottters have earned 25 out of a maximum 26 points this season. They could be one of the top contenders for the Memorial Cup should they qualify as OHL Champion.

At practice Tuesday, McDavid did something you don’t see everyday on the hockey rink. As witnessed from Erie assistant coach and former NHL player Jay McKee via Twitter, McDavid shattered a puck after ringing it off the crossbar during practice. He’s projected to be the biggest impact #1 pick since Sidney Crosby and whichever team lands the top spot in the lottery could have a franchise-changing player in their hands.
