Mikael Granlund Scores Incredible OT Winner

Yesterday, I tried to convince you to watch the Colorado/Minnesota series with my post about how great Nathan MacKinnon has been playing. As my luck would have it, MacKinnon was help off the scoresheet last night. But on the other hand, so were all but three players from the Wild.

After a tight game ended with a scoreless tie, these two teams headed to overtime for another thriller. With just about five minutes played in the extra session, Mikael Granlund received the puck and made an incredible individual effort to cap the win for Minnesota.

Granlund started low in the offensive zone, worked his way around the net with the puck and looked like he might go for a wrap around. When the defensive effort looked to be too much, Granlund worked his way towards the boards, spun off a check at the boards, and drove hard towards the net. Showing a great set of hands, Granlund deked around a trio of Avalanche players and the goalie, was tripped, and as he hit the ice was able to slide the puck into an open net.
