The Winnipeg Jets are starting to shape into a real team with their logo finally revealed.
The once Atlanta Thrashers have now moved to Winnipeg. Not knowing of the team name, the organization finally announced it before their first pick of the NHL Entry Draft. Emotions were mixed, some feeling the team should take on a new name entirely. The organization however, stuck with the once NHL team the Winnipeg Jets. As players were drafted they donned the black NHL logo jerseys, creating anticipation for a new logo.
Yesterday the team revealed their new and updated Jets logo. Looking similar to a curling rink house; blue, white and red colors and all, the logo has a silhouette of a CF-18 Hornet on top of a red Maple Leaf. The new logo is updated, but still pays homage to the old Jet’s logo.
With the unveiling, the team also revealed what seems to be the patches for the jersey. One that says Winnipeg Jets in writing, topped with another Maple Leaf. Some might even say it looks similar the the Labatt Blue beer logo. The other patch is of two hockey sticks crossed, with Winnipeg Jets written on the top and bottom, and a Maple Leaf sitting on top of pilot wings.
Overall, I think the logo is pretty slick and will do well in sales. I’ll probably pick up a hat myself. The final piece of the puzzle is the jersey design. Not sure if it will be similar to the old ones, but from the new logo’s look, I can only imagine it will be a winner.
